There are mornings when I wake up, head out onto the road, and the only sound is the wind hitting the cliffs and the sea somewhere in the distance. No meetings, no ceiling, no screens. Just Patagonia. And I think: how did I get this lucky?
Welcome to Patagonia Encantadora. I’m Cristian López, a tour guide in Puerto Madryn for the past 17 years, a passionate runner, and now your companion on the road through this corner of the world that stole my heart for good.
Seventeen years on the same ground, and it still surprises me
I’m not exaggerating. Patagonia has that rare ability to show you something new every single time you explore it. For 17 years I worked inside the Peninsula Valdes Protected Natural Area , one of the most important natural heritage sites on the planet.
Today I’m still an active tour guide, welcoming groups from all over the world and taking them to experiences you won’t find in any guidebook. I work in Spanish, English, and Italian, because Patagonia doesn’t speak one language, it speaks straight to the chest.
Why did this blog start?
Because I got tired of keeping it all to myself.
After years of collecting secret routes, one-of-a-kind moments in front of the lens, trails that only runners know about, and details no tourist finds on Google, I decided all of it deserved a home. That home is Patagonia Encantadora.
You won’t find generic content copied from other sites here. Every photo is mine. Every recommendation, I’ve lived it. Every trail, I’ve run or hiked myself. Trail running gave me a perspective on this land that very few guides have: I know Patagonia not just from the tour bus, but from the mud, the headwind, and the climb that leaves you breathless.

My goal is for you to have real, honest information to plan your own trip, wherever and however you decide to book it.
